My Creative Journey

If you're curious about my creative outputs. I began in textile design during the early days of the digital world. Over two decades, I've navigated freelancing, entrepreneurship, teaching, selling and coaching across textiles, craft, and design.

Working with inspiring individuals has shaped my path, teaching me valuable lessons amid triumphs and setbacks. These diverse experiences give me a unique perspective, a translator lens to understand and empower small creative businesses in achieving both creative fulfillment and sustainable success.

    • Launched the first DIY printed window film under Emma Jeffs. It looked like a lace curtain. I licensed it to the US and Europe. It got featured on blogs when blogs were just starting out and the international demand led me to set up an early eCommerce website in 2006.

    • Worked in various capacities for a lot of the Crafts Council departments including, Education, Gallery Shop and Commissioning.

    • I helped sell some of Grayson Perry’s early work before he became a big name.

    • I ran a silkscreen printing studio in East London for 7 years. The roof leaked we had fun.

    • Awarded a 2-year NESTA research fellowship in industry and learnt how to use and design on a computer for digital printing onto cloth and all sorts of materials. (When I studied textile design, computers did not exist).

    • Designed a digital lace fabric except it was hand-printed. The term digital lace was coined by an Elle Decoration Magazine Journalist.

    • I have undertaken textile commissions from hospitals to hotels. A two-year project at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital was a highlight.

    • Sold work at international trade fairs, craft shows and galleries.

    • I received a Crafts Council Setting Up grant to start my business in 1998.

    • Designed products for, amongst others, Made.com and the V&A Museum.

    • Wholesaled my own collections to Liberty, Conran Shop and Urban Outfitters.

    • I have won a few awards including, the best product at Grand Designs.

    • Worked with a digital tech start-up on digitally printed microfilms for glass manifestations for buildings.

    • Engineered digital placement prints, for print-on-demand products, to utilise no wastage for accessories and interiors under the brand N&N Wares.
